About the event

"Design is thinking made visual" ~ Saul Bass

Through the "Make It Look Good: Basic Principles of Design" workshop, the Professional Development Committee of Rotaract NYF provided its club members with the chance to discover their creative side.

The workshop was conducted by Mr. Digvijay Tambat, a veteran of the design industry with a wealth of experience and knowledge to impart.

We came to an understanding that the foundations of design are typography and color theory, while observation is the key to "creativity".

A small activity was conducted to lay emphasis on the fact that observation is the most important skill required in the field of design. Colors are also significant and communicate much more than is typically thought.

We learned that-

° Photoshop is a crucial tool in the world of visual effects and design and was introduced to a number of new terms, such as camera projection and rotoscoping, which involve combining various animations and videos.

° Clean up refers to adding or removing specific elements from a video.

° Compositing, the last step, is where the original and VFX are combined.

The concept and difference between RGB and CMYK were explained. RGB is used for display purposes only i.e. designing a poster on software while CMYK is used for printing purposes only thus leading to the difference in color between them.

This workshop provided and introduced the Rotaracters of NYF with the basic knowledge in the field of designing and animation which will further be beneficial in their professional lives.
